A Kentucky family was in for a surprise this holiday season when they discovered a baby owl residing in their Christmas tree.
Michele White, a resident of Lexington, Kentucky, shared with WDKY-TV that selecting a Christmas tree is an annual family tradition. This year, however, was a bit different. The tree had been in their home for four days, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary.
Ms. White, who owns three dogs, mentioned, “We frequently use this room: for watching TV, it’s near the kitchen, but there was no hint of anything unusual.”
Bobby Hayes, the owner of Magic Carpet Cleaning, was working in the house while the family was away. He first spotted the bird when he plugged in his equipment and noticed the tree moving.
Describing the encounter, Mr. Hayes said, “The owl was perched on a lower branch right here.”
He added, “It climbed further up into the tree. It took me a few minutes to even locate it.”
After discovering the owl, Mr. Hayes sent pictures to Ms. White, who expressed relief that he was there to handle the situation. Mr. Hayes managed to safely release the owl into the family’s backyard.
Concluding the event, Mr. Hayes remarked, “Now everyone can enjoy a merry Christmas.”
